A licensed professional who designs and delivers learning experiences for summer school students; regularly collaborates and supports summer school staff to promote and improve learning opportunities for students; provides necessary attendance and discipline support; communicates with families; participates in a community of learning to develop and refine knowledge and skills for the academic, civic, social and emotional success of students.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: coordination of facilities, curriculum/textbooks, attendance, discipline, parent communication, recording expenditures, preparing staff handbook, distribution of program and teacher evaluations.

Session I*: June 6-24, 2022, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Liberty High School

Session II*: July 11-29, 2022, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Liberty High School

*Dates and times listed are site hours. General student contact hours are 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m. The site coordinator is expected to work six hours a day during the session, plus three additional days to set-up and close-out the session.

NOTE: The day prior to the beginning of the session serves as a set-up day for teachers. Training and staff meetings will be held prior to the set up day.

The stipend for the Secondary Summer School Site Coordinator position is $3,105.00 per completed session.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; skillful communicator with students, staff and parents.
  • Experience with Special Needs students preferred.
  • Comfortable with technology and able to provide technical support for staff members and students.
  • Certified, or willing to become certified, in CPI Training (Crisis Prevention Institute Nonviolent Crisis Intervention), CPR/First Aid, and Administration of Medication to Students.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technologies and to learn functionality of new equipment and systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to create, access, input, retrieve, and manipulate information in various software systems
  • Ability to establish and maintain accurate record keeping, document management, and filing systems

  • The job is very active and regularly requires periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing while on duty. While performing the duties of this job, the teacher is regularly required to talk and hear.
  • The position requires the ability to speak and to be understood, to use normal or aided vision and hearing, and to detect odors.
  • The teacher frequently is required to use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and to reach with hands and arms. 
  • Typical demands require staff to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, and may be higher for some assignments depending on position and student need; climb stairs, ladders, and/or stools; reach, hold, grasp and turn objects; use fingers to operate computer keyboards; feel the shape, size and temperature of objects; and physically restrain students when necessary.
