Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Teacher: Sped Speech/Lang Path:

  • Masters degree in Speech and Language Pathology/Communication Disorders from an educational institution approved by the Colorado Department of Education
  • Valid Colorado Department of Education Special Services Provider License
  • Certificate or Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech /Language Pathology preferred
  • Provide nondiscriminatory diagnostic assessment of language, speech, hearing, voice and/or fluency disorder
  • Design, implement and support programming needed to maximize functional educational outcomes in the areas listed above
  • Provide consultation to regular education, special education, support staff and parents, and other agencies regarding programming for students with communication needs through appropriate service delivery models
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with students of all ages
  • Develop, maintain and case manage Individualized Education Plans for various students
  • Establish and maintain confidential records of screenings, evaluations and therapy progress
  • Participate in staff development activities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Response to Intervention (RTI) and intervention strategies
  • Excellent collaborative/teaming skills

Salary/Pay: Salary is dependent on a review of your experience and education.

Additional Information:

New Applicants: Please note that if you are hired by District 20, fingerprinting is required. You will be responsible for the fingerprinting charge at the Colorado Springs Police Department as well as for the FBI charge.

All special education positions require the ability to safely lift 50 pounds each in a two person lift.

Primary consideration will be given to transfer requests from schools that need to reduce staff.
